Joxu is a character that appears in Tchia. He is Tchia's father.

Twelve years ago, Joxu and his wife Heia were the King and Queen of an archipelago. Their reign was peaceful and they treated their subjects fairly. The two later had twins, a boy named Makanu and a girl named Tchia. To their delight, both parents discovered that their children had special gifts. A local shaman named Pwi Dua knew of these gifts and ordained to the people that they should be offered to the God of the Depths Meavora. This caused the country's citizens to grow fearful of Meavor's wrath which led them to force Joxu and Heia to bring their children to Meavora's lair in the big hole of Hua. Pwi Dua threw their son into Meavora's pit and approached Joxu to do the same with Tchia. However, the Legendary Hero appeared and attacked Pwi Dua which allowed Joxu to escape with Tchia.
Joxu fled with Tchia to the island of Uma. For the next twelve years, the pair lived in peace on the island. During this time, the only contact they had with the outside world was with their friend Tre who brought them supplies once every month. On Tchia's twelfth birthday, Joxu gave her a Slingshot and a Glider as gifts. The next morning, he asked Tchia to help him prepare a Coutume for Tre's arrival. Later that night at dinner, Tchia presented Tre with the Coutume and the three of them spent the rest of the evening enjoying each other's company. The next morning, Joxu and Tre noticed a helicopter approaching. Joxu surmised that they must of followed Tre and quickly instructed him to hide Tchia. After the helicopter landed, Pwi Dua and two Maano emerged from the it and approached Joxu. Pwi Dua had the Maano tie him up and throw him in the helicopter. Tchia chased after them and used her gift to possess Pwi Dua's machete to slash his face. Despite her efforts, Pwi Dua pushed her off the helicopter and Joxu was taken captive at Xupi Maano. Sometime later, he was joined by Gaby and the Hunahmi Chief who were captured in retaliation for Tchia escaping Meavora's grasp.
Tchia later managed to find her father at the compound and spoke to him through a window. After telling Joxu that she knew what had happened twelve years ago, she promised that she would free all of them. Sometime later, Tchia shutdown the four factories that were powering Xupi Maano, enabling her to open the factory's chimney hatches and destroy them. While this opened the doors to allow Joxu and the others to escape, Pwi Dua soon arrived. After being confronted by Heia, who was disguised as the Masked Warrior, Pwi Dua quckly departed in his helicopter. Before leaving, however, he threw explosives into the compound which created a large explosion and destroyed it. Joxu was heavily injured from the blast and was found by Heia and Tchia in the rubble. Heia unmasked herself and held Joxu's hand as he passed away. After mourning the death of Joxu and the others, Tchia and Heia took his body to Uma and buried him there.
